Weekend of Toast

July 24th, 2007 by Todd

On Friday night we caught up with Nic, Scott, and Ash to see a movie. We ended up seeing Die Hard 4.0 – an awesome action movie, but the computer hacking stuff was brain poison!
Sunday was Toast. The Toast Australia/New Zealand food and wine festival actually.
We headed down to Fulham Palace for the Australian day of the festival. [...]

Petrus

January 24th, 2007 by Todd

For Shannon’s birthday last night we went out to dinner. However I figured we should take the opportunity to try the fine dining thing in London, so I suprised her with dinner for two at Petrus.
We had a good time being attended to by the waiters, even thought we struggled with the obligatory thick french accents. [...]

AFL exhibition game

October 21st, 2006 by Todd

I got tickets through work for an exhibition AFL match between a couple of top Aussie teams. These exhibition matches have apparently been happening every year for quite a while now. The game was between Geelong and Port Adelaide Power, but they definitely didn’t send many of their top players. The game was pretty mediocre, and had plenty [...]

Avenue Q

September 30th, 2006 by Todd

Shan suprised me with a night out to see the musical Avenue Q last night. I’d mentioned that I wanted to see it, and so she bought tickets as a suprise.
Why was I keen to see a musical you ask? Well the show is quite funny, and quite offensive! It’s done using a mixture of puppets (think muppets) [...]

Vegemite Tales

August 29th, 2006 by Todd

On Saturday night John and Kirsty joined Shannon and I to go and see Vegemite Tales.
It’s a play about a share house in west London, and about some of the typical experiences that people have in these sorts of share houses. I was hesitant to go and watch ex-Big-Brother-contestant-turned-Neighbours-actor-turned-Thespian, Blair McDonough, but it wasn’t all bad.
It [...]

Notting Hill Carnival

August 28th, 2006 by Todd

I’d never been to the Notting Hill carnival, so Shan and I headed down there on Sunday to check it out.

The festival covers a huge area, but is still very busy. There are little street parties everywhere, as well as the parade of floats and colourful dancers which travel around a set route all weekend.
It was [...]

TOAST festival weekend

July 17th, 2006 by Todd

Scott and myself decided to try out the TOAST festival on Sunday held in Regents park. It’s a food and wine festival for Australian and New Zealand food.
There was time spent eating good (and some great) food, wine tasting, and generally sitting around in the sun. We saw a few minor Aussie celebrities (on stage), including [...]

Ascot race day

June 28th, 2006 by Todd

On Saturday I went with Shannon to the Royal Ascot races at Ascot. We got dressed up in our dresses and suits and joined Shan’s workmates for a day of soaking up the atmosphere and watching people parade around. It’s about a 45 min train ride from Waterloo, and then a 10 minute walk to the [...]

Seafood

June 28th, 2006 by Todd

Last night I took Shan to a restaurant called One o One. It’s a swanky (haute cuisine) seafood restaurant in Knightsbridge, and admittedly we only went there because they had a deal on lastminute.com, which was just affordable. It’s a nice enough restaurant, and when we arrived we almost had the place to ourselves (as [...]

Stomp

May 2nd, 2006 by Todd

Stomp is a show that I heard about many years ago and only just finally got around to seeing. It started nearly 15 years ago, and is still going. It’s a musical performance done using ordinary objects to make the sound and rhythm – so basically just banging bin lids and broomsticks and stuff to [...]
